Sasha Louis Bush is a Queens-based visual artist who works with photographs and video. Bush holds a MFA in Advanced Photographic Studies from ICP-Bard (2017) and a BA from Hampshire College (2009). His practice centers on temporal and site-specific activities that encourage participants to occupy dual roles as students and teachers to examine the process of learning. Recently, he has frequented elementary school classrooms as an alternate hypothetical studio space that serves students and artist alike. Bush's black and white photographs focus on school supplies–stacks of paper, egg cartons and paintbrushes. His photographs observe states of creativity and learning ranging from disorientation to geometric order scattered throughout the classroom, positioning the viewer in the children's perspective as they make self-portraits and sculptures.
